Raider Family Day

We had the squadron Easter Party yesterday. Good fun except for the wind making it a bit chilly. Big thanks to the Girl Scouts who have adopted our squadron as their community service project. They are an amazing group of young women! It takes months to coordinate one event. They got gifts for the kids donated (this time it was Easter Baskets), candy filled eggs, craft tables, etc.

We had a great time, the food was good, the companionship is immeasurable. The only thing missing was our Marine! Nothing is quite the same without Mountain Man here with us, and Fuzz and Curly Top have no trouble letting me know that.

I asked them when we got home if they had a good time, they both said yes, and then in unison, said I wish Daddy could have gone too. Sweet girls, they love their Daddy so.

Hope all is well with each of you.
All our love,
Mama and the Giggle Girls

Oak Tree

A mighty wind blew night and day

It stole the oak tree’s leaves away

Then snapped its boughs

And pulled its bark

Until the oak was tired and stark.

But still the oak tree held its ground

While other trees fell all around

The weary wind gave up and spoke

“How can you still be standing, Oak?”

The Oak tree said,

“I know that you can break each branch of mine in two

Carry every leaf away,

shake my limbs, and make me sway.

But I have roots stretched in the earth,

Growing stronger since my birth,

You’ll never touch them, for you see,

They are the deepest part of me.

Until today, I wasn’t sure of just how much I could endure

But now I’ve found,

with thanks to you,

I’m stronger than I ever knew.

Mastercard commercial

The other day, Curly Top was acting up while talking on the webcam to Mountain Man. I had already fussed at her several times, so...Daddy fussed at her and made her go to the corner

Price of a Laptop Computer $700

Price of webcam $50

Price of internet access $60

Being able to put your daughter in timeout from a military base in Iraq: PRICELESS.

So ummm.. Mastercard...call me, let's talk.

Cinderella Ballet

Me: "Fuzz, what was your FAVORITE part of the Ballet?"

Fuzz: "I liked the part where Cinderella had on the sparkely yellow dress."

Me: "You mean, you like the Ball scene?"

Fuzz: "Yes, it was my favorite, they were beautiful dancers, Mama, and they did Jete's."

Me: "I liked that part too, Fuzz. So, Curly Top, what was YOUR FAVORITE part of the ballet."

CT: "I liked EVERY PART, will you take me again soon?!"

So, all in all, the ballet was good. We were supposed to arrive 40 minutes before curtain, and we did...which was terrible because the girls were so excited to see the ballet that 40 minutes was more like 40 years for them. When intermission came, CT was concerned that we were leaving and begged me to stay, I had to explain how intermission worked. Fuzz started feeling bad during the first Act...a little whiney...but she was a trooper, and when the the Second Act started with the royal ball, things got better for her. Curly Top sat as still and quiet as a church mouse for most of the show, except a few gasps here and there, and the smack smack smack of her little hands clapping with the rest of the audience. She was in heaven tonight. I love to see their little faces light up with that kind of excitement, and awe. Makes all the days that they are a pain in the nether reigons a little more bareable.

Mountain Man is doing well. He is in an OSHA class this week to become the "Safety Officer" for his squadron... 6 months to go...
