Sometimes you are the windshield, sometimes you are the bug.

The girls and I went to the library yesterday, and they checked out some books. We always go to the children's section, picture books. Most of them have words, but there are a few that really are picture books. I never scan the books before we check them out, we just get 6 or 8 and then come on home. We won't be doing that any more.

A beautiful book called I Loved You Before You Were Born has left Mountain Man and me (him moreso) in turmoil. It is a book written by a grandmother before her first grandchild was born. Again, did not know anything about the book but the title when we checked it out. Came home and read it, although it is lovely, I should have left it at the library. Both girls had a hard time becasue they miss their grandparents. Curly Top has lots of questions about babies being in Mama's tummy, about how babies get out of Mama's tummy, how babies get in Mama's tummy...we are so not ready for this. I tried to come up with appropriate 4 year old answers, Mountain Man on the other hand tried desperately to change the subject, and honestly ended up getting frusterated to which Fuzz advised him to "Stop, Breathe, and Think, Daddy!" As he ran his hands through his hair in frustration, Fuzz started crying. "What is wrong?" Mountain Man asked. "Why do I have yellow hair and no one else does?" With that she started crying, no sobing, NO WAILING!

No answers were good enough for either of them, not even that is just how God wants it to be.

Last night, Mountain Man and I were absolutely not the windshield, we were the bugs.
